The Financial Times awards Thomas Lagoarde-Ségot, professor of economics, the Responsible Business Education Award 2024 for the Ecological Macroeconomics course and the textbook Ecological Money and Finance (Palgrave Macmillan, 2023).

Thomas Lagoarde-Ségot, professor of economics at KEDGE BS, winner of the FT Responsible Business Education Awards 2024.

Since 2019, Thomas Lagoarde-Ségot has directed the economics commission of the SDSN France of the United Nations, a voluntary network whose work led to the opening of an innovative course in ecological macroeconomics, then to the publication of a manual by a collective of 25 academics, including several teacher-researchers from KEDGE BS.

This 700-page manual, recommended by leading figures, including American economist Jeffrey Sachs, contrasts with the conventional vision of business schools since it examines climate and sustainability issues at the macroeconomic scale (from the point of view of the system and its regulation), and not only microeconomic (from the point of view of individuals and companies).

This manual, which is based on the principles of pluralism, social justice and strong sustainability, has two sections. The first section analyses money, the monetary system, and business through the prism of strong sustainability. The second section focuses on the microeconomic dimension and case studies, such as crowdfunding, crowdsourcing and different forms of organisational governance.

This manual is used in several programmes at KEDGE BS, such as the Programme Grande Ecole (Marseille and Bordeaux), the Msc in Sustainable Finance (Paris) and the Msc in International Banking & Finance (Bordeaux).

This prize rewards the work of an entire team mobilised for the Sustainable Development Goals of the Paris Agreements.
